Endowed Professorship for Timber Construction at the University of Innsbruck

The Institute for Construction and Material Sciences Unit of Timber Engineering is setting up a new professorship with focus on Architecture, Resource Efficiency and Fabrication, funded by "Bundesministerium für Landwirtschaft, Regionen und Tourismus (BMLRT)" (Federal Ministry of Austria Agriculure, Regions and Tourism).


The professor to be appointed should represent the professorship with commitment in research and teaching, set accents in scientific research, initiate and carry out basic and applied research projects in cooperation with industry, acting as an authoritative link between architecture, civil and environmental engineering sciences and practice.

The main focus should be on the following areas in particular:

  • material-appropriate planning,

  • industrialisation in timber construction (systematisation, modularisation and prefabrication in design and construction planning including fire protection) and

  • large-volume timber construction in urban, rural and alpine contexts.

Teaching includes holding courses in the professorship's subject areas in German and English and supervising students in the bachelor's degree programmes in civil and environmental engineering and architecture as well as in the master's degree programmes in architecture, civil engineering and environmental engineering and in the doctoral programme in technical sciences.
